Entering Tanzania

Hi Friends,

Yesterday we safely arrived in Arusha, Tanzania after about 5 hours on the Impala shuttle bus from the Silver Springs Hotel in Nairobi to the Impala Hotel in Arusha, including about an hour at the boarder crossing and some amazing classic Masai landscapes along the way. Today we are enjoying resting at the Ujamaa Hostel in the shadow of Mt. Meru, and not far from the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro, putting together some plans for our few days in this region, and will hopefully be heading out for some adventures soon. In the meantime, we just wanted to let you know that we are safe and sound, and enjoying the newness of Tanzania.

P.S. Happy Anniversary to the Stevick Parental Unit!

  1. Hey guys. You should try to meet up with Dave Armon. He runs a brilliant cycling safari out of Arusha. Also Ol Doinyo Lengai is a fabulous overnight hike up the only active volcano in the region.

Have you had red bananas yet?

  2. Hey Glenton,
Thanks for the tip. We're actually heading out on a five day excursion this morning, including the Ngorogoro Crater, and concluding with a hike up the volcano, but will definitely look up Dave when we get back to Arusha. Should we say "Hi" for you? A cycle safari would be amazing around this place (very beautiful).

  3. P.S. No red bananas eaten yet =( but I haven't seen them in the markets either. Where do we find them?

  4. You'll find them in some markets on the way to Ngorongoro. Pretty rare. There's actually many different types.

Definitely say hi from us. We were there when he was just starting his business, so we got a couple of outings while he figured out how it would all work.
